Chris started CLAi 27 years ago in London as a way to combine his passion for the moving image, his graduate and post-graduate studies in architecture, film/photography, and 3D animation, and his desire to make a positive difference in people’s lives.
He has worked in the television, film and video industries in both Europe and the US as a producer, director, DP, editor, and production company owner - creating a body of several thousand documentary and commercial programs as well as features. He migrated his company to the States in 1993, becoming a citizen in 2003, and currently resides in beautiful Santa Cruz, California - also the home of CLAi’s production studio - with his wife, Stephanie and goldie, Missy Milou. Chris embraced Digital Cinema from it’s earliest days, as an early adopter of the first RED One camera system and a visiting lecturer on the new reality that it brought about. Today, CLAi not only shoot with the latest and greatest RED Epic camera, but are an authority on all aspects of the 5k post-production process and workflow. Alexandra primarily looks after Post-Production at CLAi.
With the creative eye and attention to detail of a traditional artist she finesses her way through edits and color grades with the delicacy of a paintbrush on canvas - with the foundation of double degrees in Film and Fine Arts from UC Santa Cruz. Her love for the arts began with painting and dance for personal expression, and evolved into colored pixels and motion on a big screen for large audiences. While building a career in film and video in the Bay Area she has worked on everything from documentaries, indie films, music videos, commercials to corporate productions and with CLAi she is a great asset in the crafting of programs from concept through final output. Her experience extends to various on set roles, art direction, pre-production and small-scale producing, but her passion lies in the challenges of the edit - where it all comes together! At CLAi, Alexandra can also be found handling our graphic and web design, helping concept and manage projects, all while ruling the office with the subtlety of an iron fist. tyler@CLAi.tv : Tyler Burroughs DIT/Cameraman - Production Specialist
Tyler is CLAi's go-to-guy for all things Production related.
 His interest in cameras and the art of storytelling started from a very early age - through still photography and printing. With the opportunity to shoot with broadcast cameras his focus shifted to the moving image, and the pursuit of a degree in film. Since earning his Bachelors of Arts in Film, Broadcast and New Media at Cal State University Monterey Bay he has worked on a range of different productions, using a mix of both film and digital cameras. His work prior to joining CLAi includes feature films, documentaries, music videos, network television, and short independent films, including "Where The Sky Is Born", assisting cinematographer and two time Academy Award winner Haskell Wexler. At CLAi, Tyler can be found on all of our shoots, as well as back at the studios handling our asset database management, blogging for our REDfilm site, looking after all of our equipment and taking long walks on the beach with the RED. jaimy@CLAi.tv : Jaimy Sandoval Production/Marketing Assistant
Jaimy is in charge of CLAi's blogs and social media sites and enjoys being the friendly face representing the company by attending networking events around the Bay Area. She has a great talent with words and both speaks and writes with an artistic eloquence in her professional, academic and personal ventures. While Jaimy is a great help around the studio, she is also working on a Master's Degree in Social Work at nights and weekends and hopes to put her education to work soon and make a difference within the local community.
At CLAi, Jaimy can also be found assisting on shoots, keeping the studio organized and acting as our Master Barista. Of course, having said all of that, we'll be a lot less grumpy when you phone between 9am and 5pm pacific time! |
